Apple is seeking an enthusiastic Lab Technician for the Mac Hardware Validation Engineering team. Candidate in this role will assist with setting up test hardware, configure and manage the test environment for system hardware validation testing. The Mac organization is looking for an outstanding Lab Technician to work in a large scale system testing lab, to support the latest Mac system development projects. The ideal candidate for this position would be a self-motivated and detailed-oriented individual who is also passionate in doing their best work hands on. This Lab Technician role is to set up and manage a large-scale hardware rack testing environment for Mac system development projects. The candidate is expected to provide physical in-lab set up support to enable automated system testing on test racks. Candidate will work with validation engineering team and internal in project planning and in setting up the test hardware configurations. Candidate will also work with test automation team in trouble-shooting test environment issues and in improving lab automations. Technician will also work with other teams within Apple, including Secure Logistics and DHX for hardware and inventory handling, Facilities and IS&TT teams for lab infrastructure operations.
  • 2 years of PC, Mac or IT technical support experience or equivalent working knowledge in computer hardware and networking.
  • Strong in diagnosing and resolving user-level issues in MacOS, iOS or Linux.
  • A team-player in nature with good communications and documentations skills.
  • Experience with computer lab support and setting up computer configurations for functional testing.
  • Experience with large quantity hardware logistics and inventory management.
  • Familiar with Python or shell scripting, capable in modifying or creating automation scripts.
  • Capability in fine-pitch component board soldering.
  • Ability to work independently, strong organization skills and detail-oriented, with demonstrated capability to innovate as required.
