The CE&S BI Team enables data‑driven decision‑making through centralized, governed analytics to optimize customer experience and operational excellence across CE&S. We build and operate enterprise‑grade data platforms, enforce data and metric governance, and deliver self‑serve analytics, data science, and AI/ML solutions that directly improve customer experience and drive operational excellence across assisted and self‑service surfaces.
We are seeking an accomplished Principal Data Science Manager with deep technical expertise and a proven record of delivering production‑grade, at‑scale data science models and AI‑powered intelligent experiences. In this role, you will operate in a high‑velocity, high‑impact environment, leading and collaborating closely with cross‑functional partners to solve complex, ambiguous business and technical challenges. You will be part of a team that brings together expertise across data domains, analytics, large language models, software engineering, and responsible AI, driving innovation from concept to real‑world impact at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage an innovative technical data science team in the area of Large Language Models, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
  • Build and lead a high‑bar data science org—hire, coach, and retain exceptional talent; set expectations; and raise performance through measurable goals and crisp execution.
  • Drive the end‑to‑end strategy, prioritization, and technical approach to deliver data science and AI capabilities aligned to top business outcomes.
  • Apply LLMs and modern AI to transform data science workflows and ship scalable solutions that improve insight generation and decision velocity.
  • Establish trusted partnerships with senior product/business leaders and across teams in CE&S.
  • Own roadmap and set success metrics and accountability; ensure delivery quality at speed and measurable business impact.
  • Lead with clarity and excellence—model strong technical leadership, influence, and high standards.

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years people-management experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and / or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire / transfer and every two years thereafter.

    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years people-management experience.
  • 5+ years customer-facing, project-delivery experience, driving products from ideation through production in professional services or consulting environments.
  • Strong technical background in AI and machine learning, with hands-on coding experience designing and building models for scaled production services.
  • Experience leading and developing data science teams across Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and related domains.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills, with proficiency in modern data and analytics tools (Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, SQL, Python, Azure Machine Learning).
  • Customer-obsessed mindset, able to translate customer needs into measurable product outcomes and real-world business impact through delivered solutions


Data Science M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
