NVIDIA is hiring a Failure Analysis Engineer. In this role, you'll play a key part of our Supplier Quality Failure Analysis team, aiming to take FA capabilities to new heights. The role strives to track ongoing failure analyses, review and generate analysis reports and ensure a consistent quality among different supplier activities. This includes the generation and scoring of 8D reports as used in automotive industry. This is a hybrid position that is based in Santa Clara, California with the option to work temporary remotely.

What we need to see:

  • Review and approval interim Failure Analysis reports, to make sure failing chip, device or component are correctly identified before sending to component supplier FA

  • Work with custom manufacturers with their suppliers for supplier FA to solve hard problems

  • Keep track of all kinds of root causes, grade 8D scores to FA report to monitor FA quality and corrective action effectiveness

  • Provide training to every CM FA team and members to understand 8 fields (8D) requirements

  • Monitor and maintain supplier FA quality by reviewing supplier FA report for minimum acceptance and grade 8D scores based on 8 fields standard.

  • Discuss with supplier FA teams for FA quality improvement with detailed 8D score items.

What we need to see:

  • Possess an in-depth understanding of semiconductor IC, IC package and board fabrication/assembly processes

  • Proficiency in IC Package device fault isolation and sample preparations for various failure analysis tasks, including defect localization and physical root cause analysis

  • Familiarity with 2D/3D X-Ray, Ultrasound, Curve-tracing, Thermal/Photo Emission Microscopy, CAD layout, and respective analysis methods

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • 5+ years of industrial experience in IC failure analysis

  • B.S. degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent experience

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 116,000 USD - 184,000 USD for Level 3, and 144,000 USD - 230,000 USD for Level 4.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
