Business Enablement Process Analyst (Xtern)

The Business Enablement Process Analyst supports the documentation, analysis, and optimization of core business processes across the organization. This role partners closely with functional leaders to map current‑state workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and develop clear, standardized documentation that enhances efficiency, clarity, and cross‑team collaboration. The position may also assist with general departmental support activities and should demonstrate strong communication, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset.
This is part of the Xtern program through TechPoint. Xtern is for students who are enrolled in a University or College and is a professional development experience on top of their full-time internship with Community Health. Xtern provides three weekends where you will connect with other interns in tech and tech adjacent roles at companies in the Indianapolis area. Xtern weekends focus on professional development, civic engagement, and social opportunities to grow your network. You will have access to an online community, bonus fun events, and an opportunity to compete to explore Indianapolis through the Xtern Passport program.
Xtern also includes 10 weeks of free housing located at IU Indianapolis. Housing dates are from Saturday, May 23rd to Saturday, August 1st, 2026. You must relocate to Indianapolis for the duration of the summer to be eligible for this internship position and the Xtern program.
Key Responsibilities
Process Documentation & Workflow Mapping
- Define project scope for documenting both existing and new workflows within the Business Enablement department.
- Partner with functional leaders to capture core business processes, including:
- Current‑state workflows
- Decision points
- Systems and tools used
- Cross‑team handoffs
- Produce high‑quality visual workflow maps and documentation using formats such as:
- SOPs
- Swimlane diagrams
- Knowledge base articles
- Process maps and visual flowcharts
- Establish and uphold documentation standards to ensure consistency, clarity, and long‑term usability.
Operational Analysis & Improvement
- Identify bottlenecks, redundancies, or inefficiencies within processes and recommend improvements.
- Highlight opportunities to simplify, automate, or streamline workflows.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that drive operational excellence within the organization.
Knowledge Management
- Develop and maintain a centralized process library to support onboarding, cross‑training, and future optimization efforts.
- Ensure documentation is organized, easily accessible, up‑to‑date, and aligned with departmental standards.
Departmental Support & Collaboration
- Maintain positive working relationships with staff and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Support general non‑clinical departmental duties when needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current enrollment in a college degree program preferred.
Experience
- Prior experience in customer‑facing roles is helpful.
- Exposure to administrative, operational, or business process work is beneficial.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and build positive relationships.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.).
- Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
